Position: Senior Scaffold Design Engineer
Reports to: Technical Manager
Location: Flexible (UK-based)

Overview of the role
Working collaboratively with colleagues and clients across a range of construction and industrial environments, design robust scaffolding and temporary works schemes that strictly adhere to all relevant industry and Company practices.
Role responsibilities
· Provide scaffolding and temporary works design schemes for varied projects.
· Ensure all designs adhere to the latest codes of practice, UK regulations and Company policies.
· Apply engineering knowledge to analyse the structural integrity of scaffolding and temporary works structures.
· Assess and design-out hazards where possible within the design process and propose effective control measures for the reduction and elimination of risk.
· Conduct site surveys, collect and assess site information, liaise with clients, and site teams, as well as represent the Company at design and site meetings.
· Understand the practicalities of the erection, use, and dismantle of scaffolding, as well as its main functions in key industry sectors, and apply this knowledge to improve our service provision, processes and standards.
· Always uphold the name and reputation of Denholm Industrial Group.
· Adhere, at all times, to the Company policies and procedures, in particular Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental policies.

Skills and Experience
Essential
· BEng/MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
• BEng/MEng/BSc in a similar construction related engineering discipline will be considered.
• HNC/HND/FdSc in Civil or Structural Engineering (or similar) with extensive and relevant industry experience may be considered.
· Construction health and safety awareness
· AutoCAD drafting skills to UK construction design standards
· FEA / Frame analysis software skills, e.g. CADS A3d max, STAAD Pro or similar
· Knowledge of the main requirements of Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations 2015
· Knowledge of the main requirements of The Work at Height Regulations (WAHR) 2005
· Knowledge of the relevant British and European Standards: BS EN 12811-1, BS 5975 and BS EN 1991
· Construction related industry experience, either site or office based.
· Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable
· Practical knowledge of scaffolding and temporary works
· Awareness of social media and the role it plays in business development and customer interaction.
· ICE / IStructE membership, or similar

Candidate overview
Applicants who may have worked within design and engineering or the construction industry at a senior level for several years and have a relevant qualification will be considered.
A track record of experience and delivery in scaffolding or temporary works design, including containment design is essential.
It is preferable that the candidate would be located in one of our office locations, with the option to work remotely intermittently.
