Head of Design (UX/UI)

We are seeking to add an innovative and experienced UI/UX Designer to our existing Product Management team as our Head of Design, working on our industry-leading barrister chambers solution.
As the Head of Design, you will work to improve Opus 2's innovative software products by translating high level requirements into exceptional user experiences. This will involve evaluating the existing product and building new or improved user experiences, conducting user research, presenting findings, and producing UX/UI designs that fit and complement our existing roadmap and product vision. To ensure the success of our solution. The UI/UX Designer should possess and demonstrate an exceptional track record, knowledge, and passion around the design of software products. Experience of engaging with engineering and product teams throughout the development process to implement designs as efficiently and effectively as possible that meets time to market expectations is critical.
In addition to the above, this role will also involve keeping abreast of market trends and capabilities of products in similar areas to Opus 2, particularly in context to priority functionality and the existing roadmap.
Designing and prototyping of user experiences based on requirements evaluated in collaboration with product and development teams
Creating user-centric designs led by business requirements, user journeys, input from subject matter experts, customer feedback and usability findings
Quickly and iteratively creating user flows, mock-ups, wireframes, prototypes etc. as appropriate to guide development
Presenting designs to internal teams and key stakeholders
Striving to improve the product on an ongoing and proactive basis, carrying out usability testing to identify areas for improvement
Incorporating customer feedback and usability findings into design to ensure that end user needs guide development of new features
Conducting user research, feeding into the development process critical information about users and their behaviour, goals, motivations and needs
Researching and exploring trends in the legal technology industry to keep on top of trends and best practices
Support our marketing package, creating and drafting html email templates with MJML for our clients
Requirements
At least 8 years of experience in UI and UX design including experience with web and mobile applications
A strong portfolio with examples of UI skills backed up by an understanding of UX decision making
Sound knowledge of user interface and user experience principles
Experience with Figma or equivalent prototyping tools
Knowledge of HTML/JS/SASS/CSS
Knowledge of email templating and MJML
Experience of working closely with development teams, utilising agile software engineering principles to rapidly develop and iterate on designs
Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate effectively with product and engineering teams in addition to business stakeholders and leadership
Confident and excited about liaising with clients to understand user goals, workflows and feedback in the context of their specific solution workflow or business problem
Ability to explore new ideas, concepts and think outside the box to find innovative and creative ways of solving common challenges by exploiting and reusing, where possible, conventions within the existing Opus 2 platform
A self-starter with a clear understanding of the value of working collaboratively
A positive and flexible can-do attitude is essential
