This role offers the opportunity to work on complex industrial filtration systems, ensuring they are installed correctly, commissioned safely, and perform to specification. If you thrive on site-based work and take pride in seeing projects through to completion, we’d like to hear from you.
Job Title: Field Engineer
Location: Central Bristol, Hybrid, with extensive international travel requirements up to 50%
Salary Range: £47,970 – £69,290 per annum
Matter. are innovators in water filtration, developing pioneering filtration technology to capture microplastics and cut carbon emissions. You will be working on some of the biggest challenges of our time, removing micropollutants from the world’s waterways.
Through brilliant design thinking, powerful partners, and impatience to make what we do matter, our mission is to transform industries through technology that empowers customers and protects the planet.
We pride ourselves on our amazing technology and passion for wanting to change things, but fundamentally what we are most proud of is our people.
For us, people are everything. It’s what makes a company, not the mission written on the wall or the fancy building we work in. Our people represent us, our values and why we do what we do.
As Matters Field Engineer, you will play a key role in driving our business growth across multiple industries, with an initial focus on the textile and laundry industries.
You will take the technical and practical lead of conducting testing with customers to support the Commercial Team in driving revenue growth. You will also be the technical and practical lead at customer’s sites with respect to installation and commissioning of Matter equipment. Some maintenance actions and post commissioning support/troubleshooting will also play a key role in customer success.
You will be responsible for the planning of such testing and work closely with our Commercial and Engineering teams to ensure successful outcomes with the customer.
Key to this role is practical experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment, or similar industrial solutions.
Key to success in this role is working closely with customers to understand their needs and how we can help add value. You will be a self-motivated problem solver with strong engineering experience.
Whilst this role does not entail any direct reports during 2025, this role will have scope to plan for such direct reports, and the training of them, as Matter’s business activity grows. These reports may be internal, or be placed with third-party sub-contractors.
The Commercial and engineering teams are there to support you at all times, with the Commercial leadership in particular helping you to deliver on the responsibilities outlined.
You will also be given some KPIs which are designed to give you clarity and focus in your work, and to help you achieve your objectives. These KPIs are also essential in helping us to work out how the company might do business better.
We will schedule weekly 1-2-1 meetings to check in on progress and talk through any issues that you would like to address. We will then hold more detailed appraisals after 6 and 12 months.
After acknowledging your application, we will update you on the next stage of your hiring journey with Matter within 48 hrs.
At Matter, we believe that representation is crucial, and we are committed to creating a more inclusive organisation. We encourage applications from a diverse range of candidates, as we are dedicated to ensuring that everyone has a voice. We know that with increased diversity in our organisation, we can achieve even more.
