We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC programmer to join a growing machine shop facility in Bournemouth. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC machinist with experience in CNC programming, to join a progressive engineering environment.

The successful CNC Programmer will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC sliding head machines to manufacture high-quality, close-tolerance components safely and efficiently.

Experience working with Citizen or Tornos sliding head lathes would be highly advantageous, although this is not essential as full training can be provided to the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities for the CNC Programmer opportunity in Bournemouth

Program sliding head CNC lathes using G-code and/or offline CAM software

Set and prove out CNC sliding head machines, including Citizen and Tornos

Modify and optimise existing CNC programs to improve cycle times, tooling efficiency and machining performance

Select, prepare and set cutting tools, guide bushes and workholding

Operate CNC machinery to manufacture components in line with engineering drawings and specifications

Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to offsets where required

Identify and resolve machining issues to maintain production efficiency and component quality

Inspect finished components using micrometers, verniers, gauges and other precision measuring equipment

Ensure all components meet required dimensional tolerances, quality standards and surface finish requirements

Maintain high standards of health and safety throughout the machining process

Report any health, safety, quality or production concerns promptly

Ensure compliance with relevant company procedures, policies and regulations

About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a CNC Programmer, within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.

You should have:

Proven experience programming, setting and operating CNC machinery

Experience with sliding head CNC lathes is desirable

Knowledge of G-code and/or CAM programming

Experience with Citizen or Tornos machines would be advantageous

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Experience using precision measuring equipment

Strong understanding of machining tolerances, tooling and offsets
