We’re working with an ambitious, technology-led organisation that is continuing to invest significantly in its engineering function. They’re looking for an experienced Backend Systems Developer to join the team and play a key role in developing and improving the integrations that underpin their digital platform.

This is a great opportunity to work on business-critical systems where performance, scalability and reliability are essential. You’ll be responsible for developing backend services that connect customer-facing applications with warehouse, ERP, finance and wider operational platforms, supporting the accurate and efficient movement of millions of data points every day.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain backend integrations between digital platforms and core business systems, including warehouse, ERP and finance solutions.

Build scalable middleware to support order processing, inventory synchronisation and real-time data exchange.

Create and maintain REST APIs and event-driven integrations across multiple systems.

Implement queue-based processing to support high-volume asynchronous workloads.

Improve system resilience through retry mechanisms, circuit breakers and fault-tolerant design.

Work closely with engineers, product teams and operational stakeholders to deliver high-quality technical solutions.

Contribute to engineering standards and best practice through code reviews, mentoring and knowledge sharing.

Develop modern, cloud-ready services using clean, maintainable and scalable architecture.

Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability and efficiency.

Essentials

4+ years’ commercial experience in backend software development using a strongly typed programming language.

Experience integrating business-critical systems with ERP, warehouse management or finance platforms.
