Java Engineer | SC ClearedLocation: Telford (2 days per week onsite) Rate: £620 per day (Inside IR35) Clearance: Active SC ClearanceThe OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Java Engineer to support and enhance critical internal applications. This role combines application development, live service support, incident ownership, and controlled change delivery within a complex enterprise landscape.Working as part of a hybrid team, you will play a key role in maintaining business-critical services, supporting batch processing activities, and driving continuous improvement across the application estate.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain, and support Java-based applications.Investigate and resolve live service incidents and production issues.Support and optimise batch processing activities.Deliver application enhancements through controlled release processes.Collaborate with development, testing, and support teams to ensure service stability.Contribute to documentation, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.Essential Skills & ExperienceStrong experience developing and supporting Java applications.Solid Oracle SQL skills, including query writing and troubleshooting.Experience using GitLab within controlled development and release environments.Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerised platforms.Experience supporting and administering WebLogic application servers.Proven ability to manage live service issues and BAU support activities.Strong problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills.Comfortable working within complex enterprise environments.Desirable SkillsExperience with Shell Scripting for operational or batch-processing tasks.Knowledge of Maven for build and dependency management.Experience working in Linux environments and using command-line tools.Manual end-to-end testing experience.Documentation creation and maintenance experience.Ways of WorkingWe are looking for someone who is:Delivery-focused and takes ownership of outcomes.Comfortable balancing support, enhancement work, and continuous improvement.Collaborative, pragmatic, and adaptable.Able to work effectively across complex application landscapes and multiple stakeholders.If you are an experienced Java Engineer with strong support and development experience and are looking for your next contract opportunity within a secure, enterprise-scale environment, we'd like to hear from you.If you receive suspicious outreach claiming to be from us, please contact us via the ManpowerGroup website.JBRP1_UKTJ
