Senior Structural Engineer

Location: Ripley, Derbyshire (Full-Time, Onsite)

Salary: Up to £55,000

Are you an experienced Structural Engineer looking to take ownership of complex engineering projects within a growing and innovative organisation? We are recruiting for a Senior Structural Engineer to join a specialist engineering business delivering industrial steel structures and engineering solutions across major energy sector projects.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects spanning renewable energy, hydrogen, carbon capture, waste-to-energy and conventional power generation facilities.

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in the analysis, design and delivery of industrial steel structures, supporting projects from concept through to completion. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and contribute to the successful execution of technically challenging projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design of industrial steel frame, braced-frame and portal-frame structures.


• Carry out detailed engineering calculations including connection design, foundation design and analysis of fabricated structures.


• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and design codes including Eurocodes and ASCE 7.


• Review client specifications, drawings and technical requirements.


• Support the development of drawings, 3D models and engineering documentation.


• Review and check engineering work completed by colleagues.


• Participate in technical reviews and provide engineering support to customers and internal stakeholders.


• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering (minimum 2:1).


• 6+ years' structural design experience.


• Strong experience in structural analysis of steel structures.


• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as Autodesk Robot, ETABS, STAAD Pro or Tekla.


• Sound knowledge of Eurocodes and related structural design standards.


• Experience in steel connection and foundation design.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Excellent communication and technical reporting abilities.


• Full UK driving licence.


• Current UK resident.

Desirable

• Membership of IStructE or ICE, with progression towards Chartership.


• Experience with steel shell structures.


• FEA experience.


• Knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD or IDEA StatiCa.


• Understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
