Production Team Lead

Our client a cutting-edge aerospace engineering & manufacturing organisation who are committed to innovation and excellence, are currently looking for an experienced Production Team Lead to join them on an permanent basis out of their site in Southampton.
As a Production Team Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of production plans, focusing on On Time Start (OTS) and On Time Finish (OTF) to reduce dwell time. You will optimize team organization, develop team members, and utilize available material resources to meet company standards for safety, environment, quality, people, delivery, and cost.
Essential Responsibilities:
Promote a safe workplace environment, adhering to Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures
Ensure accurate and timely clocking and booking of work activities
Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to housekeeping standards
Comply with quality standards and minimize wastage
Support cost reduction initiatives
Keep knowledge and training up to date for necessary operations
Actively participate in team meetings and provide coaching and mentoring when required
Perform any other reasonable duties assigned
Role Specific Responsibilities:
Lead and develop the team, ensuring operational objectives are met and internal regulations are followed
Plan, direct, and control production activities to achieve OTS, OTF, and production plan targets
Implement preventive measures to minimize occupational and environmental risks
Drive effective communication within the team and act as a regular channel for employees
Ensure team members have required qualifications and certifications
Comply with and enforce company policies, procedures, and systems
Identify and mitigate risks that may affect people, products, or equipment
Analyze production, maintenance, and quality indicators to drive improvement
Energize improvements and lead regular interdepartmental meetings
Essential Characteristics:
Demonstrable experience in a manufacturing supervisory position
Knowledge of manufacturing management disciplines, production control, and standard cost systems
Strong IT skills, including MS Office
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Excellent influencing, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Ability to develop and motivate a high-involvement team
Desired Characteristics:
Knowledge of production/manufacturing operations
Knowledge and application of Six Sigma principles
Prior experience with regulatory agencies and knowledge of requirements
Knowledge of our client's products, processes, customer requirements, and budgeting/financial processes
