Job Description

Role: Operations Manager Location: Durrington Salary: £50,0000

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Operations Manager to join a busy wastewater and drainage operation on a 6-month contract . This is a hands-on operational role, responsible for ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day activities, supporting drivers and field teams, and maintaining a high level of service for clients.

The successful candidate will be confident managing a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly, with the ability to make decisions, resolve issues and keep operations running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Take full ownership of operational issues from start to finish, ensuring problems are resolved rather than passed between shifts or teams.

Manage and coordinate day-to-day wastewater and drainage operations, ensuring jobs are planned and completed efficiently.

Work closely with drivers, planners, customers, subcontractors and management teams to ensure operational requirements are understood and delivered.

Monitor reactive and planned works, responding quickly to changes, emergencies and operational challenges.

Keep all relevant stakeholders updated throughout the process, particularly where there are delays, incidents or changes to planned work.

Support the planning and allocation of drivers and vehicles to ensure resources are used effectively.

Ensure operational records, trackers, permits, reports and systems are kept accurate and up to date.

Monitor driver and team performance, addressing issues where required and promoting a strong culture of accountability.

Ensure teams follow company procedures, health & safety requirements and client-specific processes.

Assist with investigating incidents, vehicle damage, service issues and customer complaints, ensuring appropriate actions are followed through to completion.

Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, communication and service delivery.

Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on operational performance, issues and key priorities.
