Contract: Full-time, Supply – long-term placement

Sector: Education – Secondary / SEN / SEMH

The Role

We are recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant for a long-term supply placement at a specialist secondary school in Warwick. The school supports students in Years 7–11 who are currently unable to access mainstream education, many of whom hold Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

This is an excellent opportunity for a TA or LSA who enjoys building trusted relationships with young people and wants hands-on experience in a nurturing, pastoral-led SEMH environment. Class sizes are small and the focus is on helping students rebuild confidence, engagement, and a positive relationship with education.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and/or SEN

* Help implement strategies and targets set out in students' EHCPs

* Support literacy, numeracy, and access to the wider curriculum

* Build trusted, consistent relationships to help students feel safe and supported

* Support the management of behaviour using de-escalation and nurture-based approaches

* Work closely with teachers and the pastoral team to support each student's individual plan

* Contribute to a calm, structured, and encouraging classroom environment

About You

* Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Learning Mentor, or similar role

* Experience supporting students with SEN and/or SEMH is desirable but not essential

* Patient, resilient, and confident working with young people who may present challenging behaviour

* A genuine interest in pastoral care and helping students overcome barriers to learning

* Available for a full-time, long-term supply placement

* An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)

What's on Offer

* £110 – £140 per day, depending on experience

* Full-time hours on a long-term supply basis, with the security of ongoing work

* Experience in a specialist secondary/SEMH setting – valuable for anyone ...
