From design and engineering to manufacturing and testing, the majority of our work happens under one roof in Berkshire, allowing us to innovate quickly, maintain exceptional quality, and bring ideas to life faster.For our teams, that means hands‑on involvement, real ownership, and the opportunity to help shape the future of uncrewed aviation.Role SummaryWe're looking for someone with experience designing, developing and integrating electronic systems, ideally within UAV, aerospace or another safety‑critical environment. You'll have knowledge of PCB schematic and layout design, hardware assembly and testing, power distribution, flight control interfaces and sensor integration.You should be confident troubleshooting technical issues, selecting suitable components and contributing to decisions around power budgeting and EMI/EMC compliance. You'll also work closely with software, mechanical and flight test teams, so strong communication and collaboration skills are essential. Experience providing technical support to customers and using feedback to improve future electronic and aircraft designs would be beneficial.Ability to hold Security Clearance - 5 years residence in the UKWhat you'll be doing (but not limited to):Design and develop electronic systems for UAVs, including power distribution, flight control interfaces, and sensor integrationCreate and review schematics and PCB layouts using design tools (e.g. Altium, KiCad)Assemble, test, and debug hardware to validate functionality and reliabilityCollaborate with software, mechanical, and flight test teams to ensure system integration and performanceSupport flight testing and troubleshootingDevelop and maintain documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and wiring diagramsAssist in the selection and evaluation of components, ensuring suitability for aerospace applicationsContribute to system‑level design decisions, such as power budgeting, signal routing, and EMI/EMC complianceInvestigate and resolve field or production issues, proposing improvements for future revisionsMaintain awareness of emerging technologies and recommend innovations to improve system performance and reliabilitySupport other engineers with integration of new subsystems and componentsContribute suggestions for improvements on future circuits designs and aircraft systems (motherboard reorganisation for limiting interference)Essential Skills and Experiences:2 to 5 years of industry experience in a similar technical roleStrong understanding of electronic circuit design (analog and digital)Quickly understand other engineers designsQuick learner - fast development area (e.g. components to microprocessors)PCB manufacture knowledgeFamiliarity with power electronics, motor control, and battery management systemsFamiliarity of radio frequency (RF) systems and communication protocolsGood working knowledge of coding languages - C/C++, Python etcFamiliarity with PCB design and layout software (e.g. Altium, KiCad, Visio)Familiarity of embedded systems & microcontrollersUnderstanding of aerospace or UAV standards, regulations, and EMC considerationsKnowledge of autopilot systems (e.g. Ardupilot, QGC)Desired Skills and ExperiencesAbility to design, prototype, and test custom PCBsProficient in debugging and fault‑finding on electronics and systemsExperience in soldering, rework, and hardware bring‑upCompetent in using oscilloscopes, mustimeters, logic analysers, etc.Ability to collaborate across disciplines, including software and mechanical teamsClear technical documentation and communication skillsBeing able to work from a product specification to produce an efficient working systemIPC Certification/courses (PCB related - desired)Benefits you may be eligible for:Alternate Fridays off with our 9‑day fortnightBAE Systems Share Incentive Plan5% employer pension contributionAnnual collective incentive bonus schemeEnhanced family leave with 6 months' full-pay maternity leave and 4 weeks' full-pay paternity leave20 days' annual leave, increasing with service, plus a 3-day Christmas shutdownCompany sick payHealthcare Cash Plan with Virtual GP access, dental and optical support, plus free cover for dependent children up to age 24Mental health and wellbeing support available 24/7Cycle to Work SchemeProud supporter of the Armed Forces through our Bronze Armed Forces Covenant commitment.Malloy Aeronautics employees will be subject to both security and export control restrictions.
