Facade Engineer

Hours Full Time/Permanent - 40 hours (8am - 5pm, Monday Friday)

Location Glasgow / Central Scotland Hybrid with UK travel as required

Role Overview

We are looking for an experiencedFaade or Structural Engineerto join our growing team in Scotland.

This is a senior technical engineering position for someone with strong practical experience of existing buildings, faades and/or structural engineering. The role will involve working across faade, structural and building safety projects, including intrusive investigations, external wall assessments, Single Building Assessments, defect investigations and remediation.

The role combines office-based engineering with regular site-based investigation.

Experience working with Scottish residential buildings, particularly high-rise and multi-occupancy buildings, would be highly advantageous.

Requirements

Degree or equivalent professional qualification in Fire , Structural, Faade, Architectural or Building EngineeringChartered status or progression towards chartership is desirableRelevant professional membership such as CEng, MIStructE, MICE, MCIOB, CABE, RICS or CWCT is advantageousExperience in faade engineering, external wall systems, structural assessment, intrusive surveys and/or building remediationStrong understanding of Scottish Building Standards and Technical HandbooksAbility to combine engineering calculations and judgement with practical site observationsExperience producing technical reports, specifications, scopes of work and remediation recommendationsStrong communication skills with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teamsComfortable undertaking intrusive site investigations and willing to travel across Scotland and the wider UK

Key Responsibilities

Lead and undertake faade, structural, and building safety investigations of existing buildingsCarry out and oversee intrusive surveys, opening‑works, structural inspections and condition surveysAssess external wall systems, cladding, insulation, cavity barriers, fire stopping, support systems, fixings, balconies, and faade interfacesProvide practical structural engineering support and engineering judgementSupport and lead engineering elements of Single Building Assessments and external wall investigationsWork with fire engineers to assess relevant fire safety interfacesDevelop practical, proportionate, and buildable remediation solutionsPrepare technical reports, calculations, specifications, scopes of work and remediation recommendationsManage projects from initial instruction through investigation, assessment, design, and remediationCoordinate with clients, contractors, local authorities and multidisciplinary teamsProvide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers, technicians, and site investigation teams
