Infrastructure Network Engineer

Infrastructure & Network Engineer - Linux / Cisco 6 Month Contract Pimlico Banks are recruiting an Infrastructure & Network Engineer to join the IT Infrastructure team of an established organisation in Birmingham.

This is a hands-on role working across a large and varied infrastructure estate, with a particular focus on networking, network security and physical Linux server infrastructure.

We're looking for someone with solid commercial infrastructure and networking experience who is comfortable working across a broad technical environment and can contribute from the outset.

This isn't a Windows Server-focused infrastructure position. We're particularly interested in engineers with strong networking skills and hands-on experience working with Linux-based server environments.

The role will involve: Supporting and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure

Configuring and troubleshooting switches, routers and firewalls

Working with Cisco networking technologies

Supporting Check Point and Fortinet security environments

Working with SD-WAN infrastructure

Installing, configuring and maintaining Linux servers

Building and commissioning physical server hardware

Supporting virtualised environments

Server patching and general infrastructure maintenance

Troubleshooting network, server and infrastructure issues

Supporting infrastructure upgrades and improvement projects

Installing servers and network equipment at other sites when required

Maintaining technical documentation and following security processes

We're looking for someone who: Has solid commercial Infrastructure and Network Engineering experience

Has a strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing and switching

Has hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise network equipment

Has commercial experience working with Linux servers

Has experience with firewalls and network security

Is comfortable working with physical server hardware

Has strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Is comfortable taking ownership of technical issues and seeing them through to resolution
