Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Coordinator to take a key role within the Engineering & Maintenance function of a busy industrial operation located in Middlesbrough.

This is a newly created and influential position, reporting into Senior Management and taking responsibility for the effective planning, coordination, compliance and financial control of maintenance activity across the site.

This is not an administrative maintenance role. We are looking for someone with a strong maintenance or engineering background who understands the practical and technical considerations involved in maintaining complex plant and equipment. You will bring structure, accountability and good engineering practice to the maintenance function, ensuring work is effectively planned, appropriately resourced, compliant and driven through to completion.

The Role

You will take ownership of daily, weekly and longer-term maintenance planning, coordinating preventative, corrective and reactive maintenance while balancing plant priorities, asset criticality, labour, materials, contractors, downtime and operational requirements.

A key element of the position will be developing the site's maintenance planning processes. The business is currently evolving its hybrid maintenance system, providing the successful individual with the opportunity to establish more robust processes for capturing, prioritising, scheduling, tracking and closing maintenance activities, while supporting future progression towards a more structured CMMS environment.

Alongside maintenance planning, you will have responsibility for key commercial and compliance aspects of the maintenance department. This will include maintaining visibility of maintenance expenditure and budgets, coordinating contractors and specialist service providers, managing critical spares requirements and ensuring statutory inspections and maintenance obligations are effectively planned and recorded.

Working closely with Engineering, Operations and Senior Management, you will monitor maintenance performance, planned versus completed work, downtime and recurring reliability issues. You will use this information to improve asset reliability, maintenance efficiency and overall plant performance, supporting root cause analysis and wider continuous improvement activity where required.
