Telford, Shropshire

Monday to Thursday: 8:30am - 5:00pm | Friday: 8:30am - 4:00pm

Salary: £36,000 DOE

  • Overtime Available

Are you an experienced Toolmaker looking to join a well-established manufacturing business with a strong reputation for quality and innovation?

We are recruiting for a skilled Tooling Engineer to join a busy and supportive engineering team in Telford. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with injection mould tooling experience who enjoys problem-solving, preventative maintenance, and supporting production operations.

You’ll play a vital role in maintaining and repairing injection moulding tools, ensuring maximum uptime and supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the toolroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and repair injection moulding tools to support production requirements.
  • Respond to tool breakdowns, diagnose faults, and carry out corrective repairs.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance activities on tooling equipment.
  • Conduct routine safety checks on power tools and workshop equipment.
  • Work closely with the Tooling Leader to minimise production downtime.
  • Monitor tooling spare parts usage and report low stock levels.
  • Support production during new tool and product trials.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards within the workshop and around machinery.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tooling systems, processes and working practices.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Complete all tasks efficiently and within agreed timescales.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Mechanical or fitting apprenticeship/training.
  • Previous Toolmaker experience within an injection moulding environment.
  • Knowledge of sequential gate hot runner systems.
  • Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders relating to tooling cores and hot runner systems.
  • Experience using lathes, milling machines and surface grinding equipment.
  • Basic electrical knowledge relating to tool heating systems and controls.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good planning and organisational skills.
  • Crane operating experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
