As a result, alongside several consortium partners; Balfour Beatty have been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.

Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Mechanical Quality Area Lead to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.

Role Purpose

The role involves providing comprehensive support to the Construction Quality Manager and the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) function. This includes managing a package of work and overseeing subcontractors to ensure full compliance with Project requirements, Company policies, standards, and procedures. The aim is to deliver effective and efficient management of resources and activities.

To manage and control all project document flow to ensure accurate registration, storage of drawings and specifications and accurate liaison with site team, design team, subcontractors, customers, external suppliers and work winning staff, as appropriate.

To provide subject matter expertise and coaching on the use of Business Collaborator, CEMAR and all other software required for use with relevant teams and subcontractors.

What you'll be doing

Sound knowledge, understanding and effective application of ISO 9001

Sound knowledge, understanding and effective application of national/international product Codes and Standards BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations

Sound knowledge, understanding of compEx regulations (competency in explosive areas) and ATEX regulations

Sound knowledge, understanding and application of Construction Management principles

Teamwork and interpersonal communication skills, meeting management, presentation and report writing skills

Effective document management skills

Effective PC skills

Who we're looking for

HNC in Quality Management or a degree in a relevant

CQI Certificate in Quality Management

Associate Member of the Institute of Quality Assurance (AMIQA)

Internal auditors' qualification to ISO 9001

External auditors' qualification to ISO 9001 – preferred

Proven experience with M&E Industry sectors

Understanding of IT systems used in documentation control.

Good experience of document control.

Basic understanding of BIM.

An ability to understand how the operations of the department relate to others and work collaboratively to obtain the best outcome for the business.

Good interpersonal and communication skills
