General Manager & Head Chef
JWR is recruiting on behalf of an established independent hospitality business for an experienced Management Couple to take responsibility for a characterful country house hotel.
This is a varied hands-on operation encompassing hotel accommodation, restaurant and bar and events, with a strong focus on personal service and creating a memorable guest experience.
We are ideally looking for a couple where one person brings strong General Manager / hotel operations experience, and the other is an experienced Head Chef capable of leading the kitchen and food operation.
Package
Combined salary from £80,000 depending on experience

The General Manager
You will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running and commercial performance of the hotel, leading the front of house and operational teams while maintaining high standards across:
Rooms and guest experience
Food and beverage
Weddings, functions and private events
Team recruitment, training and development
Sales and local business development
Financial performance, payroll and cost control
Health & safety and operational compliance
Overall standards and presentation of the property
You should be a visible, hands-on hotelier who enjoys being part of the operation and building strong relationships with guests, the local community and your team.
The Head Chef
You will lead the kitchen operation and have responsibility for food quality, consistency, standards and commercial performance across:
Restaurant service, Breakfast, Weddings and private events, Functions and celebrations, seasonal events
Menu development
Food GP and stock control
Kitchen recruitment, training and development
Food safety and compliance
We are looking for a strong all-round hotel chef who understands the balance between quality, consistency and commerciality and who enjoys developing a stable and motivated kitchen team.
About You
This opportunity would suit an established hospitality management couple looking for a long-term position where you can genuinely take ownership of a hotel operation.
Previous experience within an independent hotel, country house hotel or quality hospitality business would be particularly relevant.
You will both need to be hands-on, commercially aware and comfortable working closely together while taking responsibility for your respective areas of the business.
