We work closely with architects, contractors, developers and other construction professionals to provide high-quality products and technical solutions for faade projects across the UK. We are looking for a Technical Sales Engineer to join our Sales team and help grow our project pipeline through technically led selling, customer development and project conversion. The Role As a Technical Sales Engineer, you will combine commercial drive with strong technical understanding to win and develop faade and insulation projects for Cladmate and Thermawool. You will build relationships with contractors, developers, architects and specifiers, manage enquiries from initial contact through to order, and use your technical knowledge to recommend suitable products and systems for each project. This is a sales-focused role , supported by strong technical knowledge. It will suit someone who enjoys working with customers, understanding technical requirements, solving problems and converting opportunities into orders. You will be responsible for developing your own sales pipeline, following up opportunities and working closely with internal teams to ensure customers receive accurate and timely technical and commercial support. Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development Generate, qualify and convert sales enquiries from contractors, developers, architects, specifiers and other construction professionals. Build, manage and develop your own pipeline of current and future projects. Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers and accounts. Identify opportunities to increase sales with existing customers and develop new business opportunities. Prepare, issue and actively follow up quotations to maximise conversion. Negotiate with customers to close orders while working within company pricing and margin targets. Maintain regular contact with customers throughout the sales process and provide appropriate follow-up after quotations. Work with the National Sales Manager on sales targets, forecasting, pricing and pipeline development. Meet agreed individual sales and activity targets. Technical Sales & Customer Support Act as a technical point of contact for customers throughout the sales process. Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable Cladmate and Thermawool products and systems. Interpret technical drawings, specifications and construction details to support customer enquiries. Provide customers with appropriate technical information relating to product performance, thermal performance, fire performance and fixing requirements. Prepare technical and commercial proposals for tenders, quotations and project opportunities. Support customers with product selection and technical queries, involving the internal Technical team where specialist advice is required. Coordinate samples, datasheets, installation guides, technical information and other project support materials. Help customers understand the benefits and technical advantages of Cladmate and Thermawool products. Specification & Project Development Monitor construction industry platforms, project databases and other sources to identify new project opportunities. Develop relationships with architects, specifiers, contractors and developers to increase product awareness and project opportunities. Work with the CPD & Specification Sales Executive to convert architect and specifier interest into product specifications. Track projects from early design and specification stages through to contractor appointment and order. Maintain regular contact with key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Support CPD presentations, product demonstrations and technical product training for customers where required. Market & Product Knowledge Maintain a strong working knowledge of Cladmate and Thermawool products, systems, certifications and technical data. Keep up to date with relevant construction methods, building regulations, industry standards and market developments. Monitor competitor activity, customer requirements and market trends. Provide customer and market feedback to the Sales, Technical and Marketing teams. Identify potential new products, applications and market opportunities. Compliance & Accuracy Ensure that technical and commercial information provided to customers is accurate and consistent with approved company information. Ensure sales proposals and technical information are aligned with relevant building regulations, fire safety requirements, certifications and industry standards. Refer complex or specialist technical matters to the appropriate internal technical resource. Ensure customer, quotation and project information is accurately recorded and maintained. Internal Collaboration Work closely with the National Sales Manager, Technical, Operations and Marketing teams to progress customer enquiries and project opportunities. Coordinate internally to ensure quotations, samples, technical information and orders are delivered accurately and on time. Attend internal sales and project meetings and contribute to pipeline reviews. Maintain accurate customer, enquiry, quotation and project records within company systems. Share customer feedback and project intelligence with relevant internal teams. About You We are looking for someone who is commercially driven, technically confident and customer-focused , with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and commercial stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have: A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil, Faade, Structural, Architectural or Building Engineering, or equivalent practical experience in a technical construction role. At least 2 years' experience in the UK construction, faade, cladding, building envelope or building materials sector. Experience in sales, technical sales, estimating, specification, project support or another customer-facing construction role. A proven ability to develop customer relationships and convert enquiries and opportunities into orders. Experience working with contractors, developers, architects, specifiers or other construction professionals. Confidence interpreting technical drawings, specifications and construction details. A good understanding of construction methods and relevant building regulations and industry standards. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong negotiation, relationship-building and commercial skills. The ability to manage multiple enquiries, quotations and projects simultaneously. Excellent organisation and attention to detail. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems. A proactive and self-motivated approach to sales and business development. A full UK driving licence is desirable.
