Electrical EngineerBiddulph, Stoke-on-TrentRapiscan Systems | Cargo & Vehicle Inspection DivisionAt Rapiscan Systems, we are global leaders in advanced security inspection solutions, helping customers across ports, borders, airports, military facilities, critical infrastructure, and high-security environments detect threats, prevent illegal activity, and protect communities worldwide.Our innovative portfolio of cargo, vehicle, and handheld inspection systems combines cutting-edge X-ray technologies, world-class imaging performance, and exceptional reliability.As we continue to develop the next generation of security solutions, we are looking for a talented Electrical Engineer to play a key role in delivering innovative products that make a real-world impact.As an Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across major Cargo and Handheld product development projects, driving engineering excellence from concept through to production and product sustainment.Working within the Cargo & Vehicle Inspection Engineering Team, you will collaborate closely with R&D, Product Management, Manufacturing, and senior business stakeholders to introduce new technologies, deliver successful New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes, and ensure products are brought to market on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex, cutting-edge technologies while influencing future product strategy and innovation.ResponsibilitiesProduct Development & Project DeliveryLead and coordinate key engineering activities across Cargo and Handheld product lines.Deliver New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes in line with business objectives, timelines, and budgets.Support project planning, technical requirements definition, product specifications, and engineering reviews.Ensure design solutions meet customer expectations for performance, maintainability, quality, and longevity.Review and approve technical documentation, testing procedures, and engineering deliverables.Innovation & TechnologyPartner with R&D teams to evaluate and introduce emerging technologies.Contribute to the development of future product strategies and technical roadmaps.Stay abreast of industry, technology, and market trends to identify new opportunities and reduce business risk.Cross-Functional LeadershipWork closely with Product Management to define realistic product goals and delivery plans.Collaborate with Manufacturing teams to ensure products transition smoothly from design into production.Support Configuration Management activities, including Bills of Materials (BoMs) and product documentation.Provide technical guidance and leadership across the entire product lifecycle, from concept through end-of-life.Business & Customer SupportSupport business development, bids, and proposals through technical input, concept development, and cost estimation.Ensure engineering deliverables support contractual commitments, customer schedules, and revenue objectives.Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.QualificationsEssentialDegree-qualified (BEng/BSc) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.Minimum 5 years' engineering experience within a relevant technical environment.Experience leading or overseeing technical work, including design reviews, approvals, and engineering governance.Proven track record delivering large-scale and/or complex engineering projects.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively.Strong organisational and time management abilities.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced engineering environment.Willingness to travel as required.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and OneNote.DesirableExperience using CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or SolidWorks.Master's degree (MEng/MSc) in Engineering or a related discipline.Experience within security technology, defence, industrial systems, electronics, automation, or capital equipment sectors.JBRP1_UKTJ
