Job Description

Position: Operations Manager Location: Charnwood Edge Business Park, Syston Rd, Cossington, Leicester LE7 4UZ Line Reporting Manager: STW General Manager Shift: Monday - Friday 07:00am - 17:00pm (1Hour Unpaid Lunch) 50hour contracted week. Manage staffing, training, competency and ongoing development of team members. Support and motivate operational, transport and support staff, dealing with performance or employee issues alongside HR and senior management. Monitor operational performance, identify areas for improvement and provide clear and accurate reports to management and clients. Lead regular operational review meetings with employees, contractors and clients. Ensure all work complies with health & safety, quality, environmental and company standards. Promote a strong SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) culture across the operation, including completing regular safety tours and monitoring key SHEQ performance measures. Manage departmental budgets, resources and staffing effectively. Coordinate tanker and jetting vehicle movements during operational incidents, taking a lead role when additional support is required. Ensure client service levels and contractual requirements are consistently met, including response times, resolution times and reporting. Maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, colleagues and other key stakeholders. Work closely with other managers to ensure operational plans support wider business objectives. Support the development and implementation of company policies, strategies and continuous improvement initiatives. Keep up to date with industry best practice and identify opportunities to improve operational performance and service delivery. Provide timely updates and information to clients during operational incidents and briefings. Carry out management responsibilities in line with legal, ethical and company requirements. Skills & Qualifications: Essential- CITB or IOSH Managing Safety. SMSTS certification. Competent in MS Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Strong leadership and people-management skills. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to analyse data and produce accurate reports. Strong organisational and planning skills. Experience managing budgets and resources. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Desirable- Additional SHEQ-related training or certifications. Management or leadership qualifications (e.g., ILM, NVQ). Knowledge or experience of drainage, tankering or jetting operations. Strong data analysis and reporting skills. Good negotiation and conflict-resolution skills. Experience: Essential- 35 years experience in an operational management role. Experience managing field-based teams, ideally within a service delivery or utilities environment. Proven experience improving operational performance and meeting SLAs. Experience managing SHEQ requirements and promoting high safety standards. Experience leading or chairing operational and review meetings. Desirable- Experience working within an IMS-certified organisation. Experience in incident management or emergency response.
