This is a hands‑on engineering role that would suit a strong Python / Backend Engineer with an interest in data engineering and cloud technologies.You'll work on modern data platforms and services, developing Python-based solutions while gaining exposure to data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain robust Python-based applications, services and data solutions.Build and support data pipelines, ETL/ELT and data transformation processes.Work with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure or GCP.Apply software engineering practices including Git, testing and CI/CD.Support cloud infrastructure and automation using Terraform / IaC.Work with databases and SQL.Support data quality, cleansing and standardisation.Collaborate with engineers, data specialists and client stakeholders.Work within Agile, multidisciplinary engineering teams.Key Skills RequiredPython – strong hands‑on development experienceCloud – AWS, Azure or GCPGit – version controlCI/CD – understanding of modern software deliverySQL – basic commercial experienceData Engineering – ETL/ELT, data pipelines and transformationTesting – unit, integration and data quality testingIaC / Terraform – awareness or practical experienceSC Clearance – active clearance required to startDesirableDockerAirflow / AWS GluePandasData Lakes / Data WarehousesPublic sector or consultancy experienceAgile delivery experienceExperience working alongside data science / ML teams
