Reception Teaching Assistant Required in Pontefract

Are you a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity in Early Years education?

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Reception Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Pontefract. This is a long-term position with an immediate start and will continue on an ongoing basis while the school recruits permanently.

For the right candidate, there is potential for the role to become a permanent position.

The Role

As a Reception Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils in their first year of school. You will help create a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive learning environment, supporting children with their academic, social, and emotional development.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting teaching and learning within the Reception classroom

Working with small groups and individual pupils

Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement

Assisting with phonics, early literacy, and numeracy activities

Supporting children's personal, social, and emotional development

Helping to prepare and organise classroom resources

Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Has previous experience working within an Early Years or Primary school setting

Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)

Has a good understanding of the EYFS curriculum

Is enthusiastic, patient, and nurturing

Can work effectively as part of a team

Is committed to helping children achieve their full potential
