Financial Controller

Job Description

As Financial Controller you would have responsibility for day-to-day management of the Southerns Broadstock Interiors (“SBIL”) finance function and decision support to the SBIL CEO. The role oversees all aspects of financial and management accounting comprising the preparation of accurate and timely cash flows, monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts together with oversight of all the financial controls. The role curiously analyses all management and financial information draw out insights for management and KPI reporting. The role reports to the Group CFO.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of an accurate 13 week cash flow forecasting and report to group.
  • Oversee the monthly management accounts to strict deadlines.
  • Investigating and explaining variances against budgets and forecasts.
  • Oversee and have a comprehensive understanding of all Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Effective business partnering to support the sales team and CEO in understanding of key commercial terms and any decision making for key projects. Engaging the Group CFO to support when required.
  • Overseeing finance team of three including staff support and development.
  • Preparation of the annual budget and forecasts and report to group.
  • Identify and drive improvements in controls, policies and procedures to secure the company assets
  • Led the audit process for SBIL within the Group structure.
  • Oversee and file VAT, corporation tax and statutory documents
  • Documentation of risks and mitigations.
  • Support the group insurance renewal process.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
  • Contract experience (ideally in the construction sector)
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Great attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate across all levels with finance and non-finance individuals
  • Desire and ability to drive process improvements and automation which create efficiencies
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft office and strong Excel skills
  • A positive ‘can do’ attitude and demonstrates high level of integrity
