Job Description

If you want to work on infrastructure that matters software that keeps tens of thousands of people connected every day this is the role for you.
About the Role
ASK4 provides managed internet connectivity and smart building technology to multi-tenant properties across Europe. Our network platform underpins homes and workspaces for residents in student accommodation, build-to-rent, and multi-dwelling properties at scale.
As a Senior Software Engineer in our Network Systems team, you'll design, build, and operate the software that keeps this platform running. From automation tooling and AI-powered network intelligence to provisioning and monitoring systems, your work will directly influence how reliably our services perform at scale.
You'll bring independent technical judgement, contribute to architectural decisions, and play an active role in raising the capability of the team around you.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain back-end systems supporting ASK4's network infrastructure including provisioning, monitoring, and automation tooling

Take end-to-end technical ownership of significant workstreams, from requirements and design through to production deployment

Contribute to and drive architectural decisions, including technology selection, service decomposition, and integration patterns

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Helm charts, and Kubernetes configurations for production and non-production environments

Integrate with network management systems, message brokers, and third-party APIs

Instrument and monitor applications using observability tooling (metrics, logs, and traces Grafana, Prometheus, or similar)

Provide technical mentorship to mid-level engineers and act as an escalation point for complex problems

Contribute to development standards, code review practices, and shared tooling across the engineering teams

About You
Essential:
Strong object-oriented software development fundamentals. Comfortable with patterns and abstraction at scale

Solid, production-grade PHP experience, ideally including Symfony or similar frameworks

Confident using relational databases (we use PostgreSQL)

CI/CD pipeline experience (we use GitLab CI)

Working knowledge of Linux systems administration and IP networking fundamentals

Technical project management experience working with business stakeholders

An inquisitive mindset and desire to learn

Desirable:
Experience with Kubernetes / Helm / Argo CD in production environments

Practical experience building and maintaining Go or Node.js services

Experience with message brokers and event-driven systems (NATS, RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar)

Exposure to OpenWiFi, OpenWrt or similar open-source network controller frameworks

Observability experience. Use of metrics, logs, and traces using tools such as Grafana, Prometheus and Sentry

Experience with AI agent development or LLM integration

Agile/Scrum working practices

ISP or managed connectivity background

Automated configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, or similar)

We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and identities and ensure fair treatment for all, regardless of protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010.
We are happy to make reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process and beyond, to ensure it is accessible and fair for everyone. If you require any adjustments or would like to discuss your needs, please contact us.
